Vaishnodevi Temple

Vaishnodevi Temple, Rourkela
Vaishnodevi Temple at Rourkela is the replica of Original Temple of Vaishnodevi of Jammu (Trikuta Hills) and is situated on the top of the Durgapur Hill facing towards Rourkela Steel Plant. As like as Jammu, Vaishnodevi Temple here also Bhairabanath Temple situated near Vaishodevi Temple on the Hill. During Annual Navaratri Festival hundreds of devotees visit this place apart from daily visit. The main temples start fully functioning from the year 2003.

Due to it’s location with a cave where the Vashnodevi Shrine located, this place attracts many devotees to visit the place. Managed by a Vaishnodevi Temple Trust, this place has variety of facility and arrangements for visitors and devotees for smooth ad hassle free visit to this place. This facility includes water and sanitation facility and light facility during night time. For its green and scenic location visitors also attracted to come to this place. From this temple corridor one can have a bird eye view of Rourkela Township which is otherwise not possible. On the top of the Hill the Temple of Goddess Durga is opened for devotees in 2007. During Durga Puja in spring and autumn season Navaratri Festival celebrated with full vigour.

How to reach there ?

To visit this place there are two alternative roads. One from Rourkela Railway Colony side from Malgodam Road, Basanti Colony via Timber colony Road and reach the foothill of the Place. Then go to Temple by foot through hundreds of steps.

Another road is from Ring Road crossing near BSNL office through timber colony Road and reaches the foothill. There is no direct share transportation link to his place. One has hired private vehicles or Auto from Sector – 2 Bus Stand or Rourkela Railway Station to reach this place.
