Corruption in Transport Department of RSP

CITU has alleged corruption in the transport department of Rourkela Steel Plant which has been continuing over years without any intervention.
General Secretary Sh Bishnu Mohanty has alleged that a DGM of this department is involved in this huge scam in which all the directives issued for Public Sector Units have been violated and many authorities have illegally acquired crores of rupees.

Two Critical Care Ambulances costing Rs 52 lacs were purchased but are yet to be operated. Rs 18 lacs was spent for an AC Glow Bus meant for the VIP s' of SAIL but this bus is not being operated and it is waiting to be thrown in a junkyard. On the other hand, authorities are hiring vehicles from outside agencies,every month , and spending a huge amount without any valid reason. In the name of repairs and other works,authorities are trying to totally clean up the RAC treasury. Even after " rite off" ing old vehicles,these are plied and huge amount of money is squandered in the name of repairs and deposited in the bank accounts of the authorities.This is not the end, even the engines of jeeps,buses and cars are being stolen during repairs.

Every year ,the transport department spends Rs 50 crores for buying petrol and diesel for all mobile equippments of RSP. In the name of "evaporation" of petroleum products, these authorities are increasing their bank balance by several crores of rupees.Further many private vehicles are used for many activities of the plant and the usage recorded, is twice than the operated actual kilometers & actual time. Many expensive parts of newly purchased vehicles are being removed and the investigation of the critical care ambulances and ac glow buses acn prove it.

Petrol and diesel are being transported from local fuel stations to the plant. After investigation it would be clear how much oil is being transported and what is the accurate bill regarding this. Authorities are also applying company vehicles for personal and family uses. The family members of authorities and some employees are enjoying company vehicles and even some children of the authorities are learning to drive on these vehicles. CITU has demanded a CBI or CVC probe in this issue.
