RSP presents scholarship worth Rs 14.53 lakhs to students from Periphery Schools
Rourkela: For creating a conducive environment for learning and encouraging meritorious students of the peripheral areas, Rourkela Steel Plant ( RSP ) is giving scholarships to the bright school students every year. As a part of one of these schemes, 298 students from 30 High Schools and 278 students from 45 M.E. Schools located in peripheral villages, resettlement colonies and reclamation blocks/camps were presented with total scholarship amount of Rs 8.99 lakhs and 5.54 lakhs respectively in a function.
Under this scheme, from each periphery village school the boy and the girl who have secured the highest marks in their schools in the High School Certificate Board Examination were presented with a cash award of Rs 5,000/- each. The second best marks holders from boys and girls got Rs 4,000/- each, while the third, fourth and fifth rank holders amongst the boys and girls receive Rs 3,000/-, Rs 2,000/- and Rs 1,000/- respectively. M.E. School Students are also awarded as per their best performance in Middle School Board Examination.
This is an encouraging measure on behalf of RSP. However, looking at CSR of RSP, it can go 2 level further in order to promote primary and school education in Greater Rourkela Area. One is establishing and completely taking care of few Odia Schools keeping the quality which can become some model for others. For example, Divine School and Chinmay School at Rourkela.
Second, they can facilitate Teacher’s Training Camp/Program on a regular basis at Rourekla ( selected teachers are invited from all over odisha ) .
I appreciate this.
